In the Gutter
Wow, it doesn’t take long for this blog stuff to get away from you if you don’t keep up with it, does it? This morning it’s pelting down with rain, as it has done for a fair few days in recent weeks. Coupled with falling leaves at this time of year it’s the perfect recipe for blocked gutters and the myriad problems that can lead to. Not keeping on top of blog entries and not keeping on top of clearing gutters and downpipes probably have a similar root.
Talking of roots, if you look up at the gutters of some buildings that are difficult to reach, you can see veritable hanging gardens of luxuriant foliage that has taken hold in silted up gutters. Rich decayed vegetable matter and a steady supply of water (not to mention good natural light) are perfect conditions for many plants.
Don’t ignore gutters; unsexy but not to be left to their own devices
