The Pond Part 2
The Pond Part 2: A pond that would soon contain no water gave rise to another problem: our resident fish population. The poor little blighters were struggling manfully in a rapidly decreasing pool, but there would clearly soon come a point when fish would exceed water.
Enter the local angling club. A few telephone calls brought several piscatorial saviours to our rescue complete with inflatable dinghy, nets and wheely bins full of water. The fish were duly collected, transferred to the wheely bins and then trundled off to the other pond in the village for safekeeping until we were ready to have them back. We’re immensely grateful to everyone who gave unstintingly of their time, kit, energy and ingenuity.
It was not only the number but the size of some of the fish that impressed, as you can see from the pictures. Ecological disaster averted.
