New Faces and Old Faces 1

New faces and old faces 1: out of the blue last week some old faces called in to see us. Jonathan and Kendra Ashton worked with us many years ago. Jonathan was a local guy who went through university and qualified as an architect whilst in the office. His wife, Kendra, is an architect from Cuba, and she joined us for a few years just before Jonathan finished his studies. Then, the call of the capital got to them, and they went off to seek their fortunes in London.

Not surprisingly, Kendra missed the warmth of home, and they had always said that it was their desire to work in Cuba at some time if possible. Jonathan still has family near us and they were visiting for a few days. We’re pleased to say they found time to come and visit us too.

So what had been happening to them? It was impossible to ignore their eighteen month old son, a real cutie, nor the fact that Kendra was heavily pregnant. The Ashton bloodline was clearly running strong. But the question was, had they managed to achieve their professional dream of working in Cuba? Well, not quite. They are having to make do with living and practising in the Cayman Islands. And no matter how heavily they laid it on about the difficulties and drawbacks of island life, we couldn’t quite bring ourselves to feel sorry for them.

Especially as neither of them seems to have aged a day since we last saw them.
