Nearly There

The last piece of our pond restoration jigsaw is now being fitted. This beautiful purpose made stainless steel sluice was delivered earlier this week and is, even as we speak, being built in to the outlet that it will control. The sluice will allow us to regulate the pond water level quickly and easily in the event that we suffer another problem such as the one that started the saga earlier this year.

Charity Run


That rant back in August did me no good at all. The rest of the month and the whole of September disappeared in a blur. So what’s been happening at the Dyehouse? Well, last Sunday was well worth recording.

The Silly Season



We all know that the summer is referred to as the silly season, with everyone on holiday and nothing serious with which to fill newspapers. But Summer 2010 is definitely turning out to be the planning silly season.

Midnight Flit

The ingratitude of dumb animals: we’ve given the swallows that nested in one of our garages free board and lodging for as long as they wanted; no restrictions on when they could come and go and we carefully avoided any activity that could disturb parents or chicks. And how do they repay us? Upped and gone leaving nothing but a large pile of droppings on the floor below the nest.

Months of training paid off last Saturday when a group of One 17ers plus assorted friends and relations successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
